Washington, DCEnergy organizations Thursday formed the Natural Gas and Renewable Energy Alliance to promote a diverse, environmentally sound mix of energy technologies in the US. Announcing the alliance were American Gas Association Pres. David Parker, Business Council for Sustainable Energy Pres. Michael Marvin, and American Wind Energy Association Executive Director Randy Swisher.
Marvin said, These industries will send a clear message to the regulatory and policy communities of the steps that can be taken to promote greater domestic energy security at a low cost to the environment and a low price to the consumer.
US Energy Sec. Bill Richardson said, This new alliance will help the Energy Department promote the development of technologies that will have a positive impact on the environment, the economy, and our nations energy security.
The alliance will work with elected officials and regulators to promote the advantages of natural gas and renewable fuels. Sponsors said their initial goal will be to seek structural improvements in regulatory programs to put them on a level playing field with other technologies.
The alliance is supported by nearly two dozen companies and associations, including the natural gas, solar, wind, geothermal, fuel cell, gas turbine, landfill gas, and hydrogen industries.
