Equinor ASA and Uniper SE have signed a 15-year agreement for the supply of natural gas to Germany. Equinor will supply Uniper with more than 30 Tw-hr/year (as much as 610 MMcfd) from 2027 to 2041.

“This long-term agreement is a strong signal for the future of Europe’s energy system,” said Uniper chief executive officer (CEO) Michael Lewis. “Reliable long-term partnerships remain essential for secure and competitive energy markets, and this agreement strengthens Germany’s gas supply for years to come.”

Equinor CEO Anders Opedal added “We are pleased to extend our long-standing partnership with Uniper. This agreement demonstrates the strong demand for reliable, long-term gas supplies from the Norwegian continental shelf, which delivers energy and industrial feedstock with a lower carbon footprint than alternative gas supply.”

Uniper last year agreed to buy 1 million tonnes/year (tpy) of LNG for 13 years on a free-on-board basis from Woodside Energy’s 16.5-million tpy Louisiana LNG plant, under development in Calcasieu Parish, La. Uniper also agreed to take 1 million tpy on a delivered ex-ship basis from Woodside Energy Trading Singapore Pty. Ltd.’s global portfolio until 2039.
