SandRidge Energy’s Michell resigns as president, CFO
N. Malone Mitchell, 3rd has resigned as president and COO of SandRidge Energy Inc. Mitchell, who will remain on the board of directors, oversaw the growth of the company from its founding until Tom L. Ward acquired a significant stake in the company and became chairman and CEO in 2006. Michell’s duties will be assumed by the current management team and Ward will be appointed president. SandRidge is an oil and natural gas company with its principal focus on exploration and production.
Jed oil appoints Carmichael CFO

Richard D. Carmichael, of Calgary, Alberta became CFO of JED Oil Inc. on January 2, 2007. He has spent the past 25 years working for a variety of companies in the oil and gas industry. He has experience with oil and gas exploration and development companies, both large and small, as well as an energy income trust and industry service providers. JED Oil Inc. is an oil and natural gas company that develops and operates oil and natural gas properties principally in western Canada and the US.
Langley retires as CFO of Pacific Ethanol
Pacific Ethanol Inc.’s CFO, William G. Langley, has retired. The company and Langley have entered into a separation and consulting agreement whereby Langley will provide certain consulting services to the company for 8 months after his retirement. He will help ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities to a new CFO and will assist in special projects. He began his tenure as the company’s CFO in April 2005. The company is actively recruiting and evaluating potential replacements.
Phillips elected Cameron VP
Cameron’s board of directors has elected Lorne E. Phillips as a vice president. Phillips has served as treasurer since July 2005, and will continue in that role, with responsibility for corporate finance, cash management, and banking relationships with respect to Cameron and its subsidiaries. Phillips has been with Cameron since 1999, and previously served as general manager of the Valves & Measurement group’s Canadian operations from 2003 to 2005. Phillips holds a bachelor’s degree from Rice University and an MBA from Harvard.
Tripodo named CFO of Tesco Corporation
Tesco Corp. has named Anthony Tripodo executive vice president and CFO of Tesco Corp. He comes to TESCO with over 30 years of experience in advancing financial roles. Since 2003 Tripodo has been managing director of Arch Creek Advisors LLC as sole proprietor. Tripodo graduated from St. Thomas University in Florida. Tesco Corp. designs, manufactures, and services technology-based solutions for the upstream energy industry.
Eden replaces Hart as Gran Tierra’s CFO
Gran Tierra Energy Inc. has accepted the resignation of James Hart from his position as the CFO and vice president, finance. The board elected Martin H. Eden to fill the position of CFO, filling the vacancy created by Hart’s resignation. Hart will continue to serve the company in a business development position. Eden has over 26 years’ experience in accounting and finance in the energy industry in Canada and overseas. He was CFO of Artumas Group Inc., a publicly listed Canadian oil and gas company from April 2005 to December 2006 and was a director from June to October, 2006. Eden holds a BSc from Birmingham University, England, and an MBA from Henley Management College/Brunel University, England. Calgary-based Gran Tierra Energy Inc. is an international oil and gas exploration and production company, incorporated and traded in the US and operating in South America.
Berry Petroleum names Steven Wilson controller
Steven B. Wilson, 43, took over as controller of Berry Petroleum January 1, 2007 upon the retirement of Donald A. Dale. Dale has been the controller for Berry since joining the company in 1985. Wilson joined Berry as assistant controller in 2003 and has worked under the direction of Dale and Ralph Goehring, executive vice president and CFO. Wilson holds a business degree from Brigham Young University and prior to joining Berry, held senior financial management positions with several companies and was an audit manager with Price Waterhouse.
Wilde resigns as president, COO at Allis-Chalmers; Adams named successor
David Wilde, president and COO of has resigned after over six years of service at Allis-Chalmers Energy Inc. and its subsidiary, Strata Directional Technology. The company has appointed Burt A. Adams, 45 to take over those positions. Adams joined Allis-Chalmers in December after the company acquired most of the assets of Oil & Gas Rental Services Inc., where he served as president and CEO for a decade. In addition, Allis-Chalmers has acquired Tanus, a processor of drilling fluids and chemicals in Argentina. Allis-Chalmers Energy Inc. is a Houston-based oilfield services company that provides services and equipment to oil and natural gas exploration and production companies throughout the US.
Caithness Petroleum taps Wright as CFO
Nigel Wright has joined Caithness Petroleum Ltd. as CFO. He brings experience in upstream petroleum, refining, and chemicals, having been CFO of substantial multinational oil and chemical businesses. He was previously CFO of Ineos Refining. He joined BP in 1981 and was the European CFO Innovene LLC from 2003 until it was sold in 2005.
James Lang joins CERA as president and COO

Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), an IHS company has added James Lang as president and COO, responsible for CERA’s daily operations and strategic growth. Lang succeeds Robert Lockwood who is taking on responsibilities for IHS’s expansion in Asia. Lang previously was president and COO of Strategic Decisions Group, a strategy consulting firm serving the oil and gas, power, transportation, life sciences and other industries. Lang holds an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College. He received a BS from the University of New Hampshire. Cambridge-based CERA is an advisor to energy companies, consumers, financial institutions, technology providers, and governments.
Hayward to succeed Browne at BP
After more than a decade in the CEO role, Lord Browne has decided to retire as chief executive of BP at the end of July 2007. Tony Hayward, currently BP’s head of exploration and production, will succeed Browne following his retirement. Hayward was appointed to the main board of BP in 2003, becoming CEO of BP’s exploration and production segment.
Tanaka nominated to succeedMandil as IEA executive director

The governing board of the International Energy Agency has selected the next executive director of the agency. The board announced that Nobuo Tanaka of Japan will succeed Claude Mandil of France who will serve until 31 August 2007, completing more than 4 years of service. Tanaka, who is currently director for science, technology, and industry at the OECD, will take up duties beginning September 2007. This is the first time a non-European has been selected for this IEA post. He holds a degree from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
Breimayer takes over for Ford as president, CEO of Daytona Energy
Jim Ford, president and CEO of Daytona Energy Corp. has resigned. The company’s board has promoted James Breimayer to take his place. Breimayer was previously the president of the US subsidiary companies, Daytona Energy LLC, Daytona Operating LLC, and Daytona Energy Partners LP and brings a wealth of technical expertise in the oil and gas industry. Daytona is an oil and gas exploration/development company, focused on gas exploration in Alberta, Canada and the Gulf Coast region of the US.
CFO changes at Breuillac takes on new role at Total
Total said that it has named Arnaud Breuillac vice president, Central Europe and Continental Asia, exploration and production. Breuillac replaces Menno Grouvel, who is retiring. Breuillac graduated from Ecole Centrale de Lyon and INSEAD. After joining total in 1982, he held various E&P positions in the UK, Indonesia, and France. In 2002, he was appointed deputy managing director, Angola. Since July 2004, Breuillac has been vice president, Iran, Middle East department, in charge of upstream operations in this country.
Canadian Oil Sands
Allen Hagerman, FCA, has decided to move from his full-time position as CFO of Canadian Oil Sands Trust’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Canadian Oil Sands Ltd., effective April 2007, to a part-time role as executive vice president. In this new role, Hagerman will be responsible for various projects and specific Syncrude related matters, such as oversight of the Syncrude business controls project.
Ryan Kubik will be promoted to CFO of Canadian Oil Sands effective April 25, 2007. Kubik joined Canadian Oil Sands as treasurer in September 2002. He has more than 15 years of corporate finance experience, holding progressively senior finance positions with EnCana Corp., PanCanadian Energy, and PricewaterhouseCoopers prior to joining Canadian Oil Sands. Kubik holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Calgary.
Jennings steps down as Devon Energy CFO
Brian Jennings, senior vice president and CFO of Devon Energy Corp., is leaving to pursue other interests. Danny Heatly, Devon’s vice president of accounting, will continue to fulfill the responsibilities of principal accounting officer. Devon Energy is an Oklahoma City-based independent energy company engaged in oil and gas exploration and production.
Ziebel hires Westgard as VP operations

Ziebel has appointed David Westgard as vice president of North American operations. Westgard has 18 years’ experience in the wellbore technology industry. Prior to joining Ziebel, Westgard was the marketing manager for a Canadian based coiled tubing products and services company.
Hellerstein and McMahon join Transocean board
Transocean Inc. has added two new members to its board of directors. Mark A. Hellerstein was appointed as a Class III director, and Michael E. McMahon was appointed as a Class II director. Hellerstein is chairman and CEO of St. Mary Land & Exploration Co., where he is scheduled to become non-executive chairman on February 26, 2007. He previously served as president and CFO of St. Mary Land & Exploration. McMahon, co-founder of Pine Brook Road Partners LLC, a New York-based private equity firm, previously served as executive counselor to the Governor of Rhode Island and worked as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers, Salomon Brothers, and JP Morgan.
Streeter tapped to lead GulfMark
GulfMark Offshore Inc. has elected Bruce A. Streeter as CEO of the company by the board of directors. Streeter will continue to serve as president of GulfMark, a position he has held since 1990, and as a director of the company, having first been elected in 1997. He currently serves as a board member. Prior to GulfMark, he was general manager of the offshore marine division of Offshore Logistics. Streeter graduated from the University of North Carolina and obtained a masters degree from Providence College. GulfMark Offshore Inc. provides marine transportation services to the energy industry through a fleet of 60 offshore support vessels, primarily in the North Sea, offshore Southeast Asia, and the Americas.
CiDRA appoints Khuri to VP, general manager for oil and gas business

CiDRA Corp. recently appointed Paul Khuri as vice president and general manager of the company’s oil and gas business unit to be located in Houston. This appointment is made as CiDRA’s SONARtracTM Surveillance products and services are delivering real time production visibility to its oil and gas customers. Prior to joining CiDRA, Khuri was with Roxar, where he was regional manager for the Americas, in the flow measurement division. Prior to Roxar, he was senior project manager in the offshore systems division of Cooper Cameron Inc.
Sonoran Energy names Smith president, CFO; Dean VP business development
Frank T. Smith, Jr. has been promoted to the position of president and CFO of Sonoran Energy Inc. Smith has served as Sonoran Energy’s executive vice president and CFO. He has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Before joining Sonoran Energy in July 2006, he was senior vice president finance at Remington Oil and Gas Corp. Prior to that Smith was executive vice president and manager of Energy Lending with the Bank of Texas. He earned BS and MEd degrees from the University of Delaware and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Sonoran Energy has also appointed Josephie Dean as the company’s new vice president business development.
Peyto Energy Trust makes appointments
Peyto Energy Trust’s current president of Exploration & Development Corp., Darren Gee, will also assume the role of CEO. He will also join the board. December 31, 2006 marked the official retirement of Don Gray as CEO of Peyto. Don will remain an active member of the board and intends to remain a significant unitholder. Gregory S. Fletcher will be appointed to the board of Peyto as an additional independent director. Fletcher is currently the president of Sierra Energy Inc., a private oil and gas production company that he founded in 1997. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Calgary.
King & Spalding adds John Barquin to international energy practice
King & Spalding has a new partner in its energy practice group. John H. Barquin, an energy attorney with significant experience in the development and financing of international energy projects, has joined the firm’s Houston office. Barquin spent 8 years at Vinson & Elkins. He earned a BA degree from University of Texas and a JD from Harvard Law School.
