Total E&P Indonesia has acquired 24.5% working interest in the Arafura Sea and Amborip VI frontier exploration blocks in the Arafura Sea off Indonesia.

HOUSTON, May 10
– Total E&P Indonesia has acquired 24.5% working interest in the Arafura Sea and Amborip VI frontier exploration blocks in the Arafura Sea off Indonesia.

ConocoPhillips, which operates the blocks, holds the other 75.5% interest in the Arafura Sea block and 51% interest in Amborip VI, in which OPIC Indonesia Corp. holds 24.5%.

Each block covers 9,000 sq km in 30-100 m of water. The first exploration well in each block is to spud by the end of 2010.
