Anadarko Petroleum Corp. took a farmout to earn part of the interests of Global Resource Holdings LLLP, Denver, and its managing director, Randall C. Thompson, in PEP 38451, the deepwater Taranaki basin’s most remote permitted area.

– Anadarko Petroleum Corp. took a farmout to earn part of the interests of Global Resource Holdings LLLP, Denver, and its managing director, Randall C. Thompson, in PEP 38451, the deepwater Taranaki basin’s most remote permitted area.

Anadarko becomes operator with 45% interest. Other participants are Hyundai Hysco Co. 30%, Australia Worldwide Exploration 10%, Global 10%, and Randall C. Thompson LLC 5%.

The license covers 32,830 sq km (OGJ Online, Nov. 25, 2009). An exploration well is to be drilled by the end of August 2011.

A Late Cretaceous fluvial and shallow marine play anda Miocene channel-turbidite play have been identified as have three prospects, Romney in 1,600 m of water, Coopworth in 1,400 m, and Corriedale in 230 m.
