Repsol YPF to buy stake in renewable-energy firm

Repsol YPF SA has agreed to acquire a 47% share of Orisol, a renewable-energy developer based in Madrid, through an €8-million investment by its new Repsol New Energy business.

HOUSTON, Sept. 17
-- Repsol YPF SA has agreed to acquire a 47% share of Orisol, a renewable-energy developer based in Madrid, through an €8-million investment by its new Repsol New Energy business.

Orisol projects have capacity to generate almost 2,000 Mw of electrical power, 1,900 Mw of which is wind. Most of the capacity is in Spain.

After the transaction, other interests will be Synergy Industry & Technology SA, created out of the Spanish aerostructure company Aernnova of Vitoria, Spain, 47%, and independent investors, 7%.
