HOUSTON, Nov. 1
– Kazakhstan’s Kazakh LLP spudded the Rak More exploratory well in the Caspian Sea off Kazakhstan in late September and expects to reach target depth in the fourth quarter of 2010.

The drillsite is on the Nursultan (N) block southwest of Aktau and 240 miles south-southwest of giant Kashagan oil and gas field.

JSC Kazmunaigaz holds 51% interest in the subsoil use contract on the 2 million acre N block. ConocoPhillips and Mubadala Development Co. PJSC hold 24.5% each. The companies signed agreements to explore the block in mid-2009.

The companies also plan to drill the Nursultan wildcat on the block in 2011. Both wells are on giant structures.
