McMoRan Exploration Co., New Orleans, has drilled the Davy Jones Eocene-Paleocene Wilcox apparent discovery well on South Marsh Island Block 230 off Louisiana to 28,603 ft and is preparing to run logs.

HOUSTON, Jan. 19
– McMoRan Exploration Co., New Orleans, has drilled the Davy Jones Eocene-Paleocene Wilcox apparent discovery well on South Marsh Island Block 230 off Louisiana to 28,603 ft and is preparing to run logs.

The company will log the newly drilled section below 28,134 ft. The well is projected to a total depth of 29,000 ft (OGJ Online, Jan. 11, 2010).

McMoRan’s 2010 ultradeep drilling plans include Blackbeard East, Lafitte south of Davy Jones, and a southeast offset appraisal well at Davy Jones.
