HOUSTON, Aug. 13
– Penn Virginia Corp., Radnor, Pa., acquired from an undisclosed seller 6,800 net acres prospective for predominantly oil in Cretaceous Eagle Ford shale mainly in Gonzales County, Tex., for $31.1 million.

Penn Virginia said the acreage is highly contiguous and is estimated to contain more than 40 horizontal well locations. The company is operator with an average 73% working interest.
