HOUSTON, Aug. 5 – Leni Gas & Oil PLC plans to reenter in mid-August the 1960s Hontomin-2 oil discovery well in north-central Spain’s Burgos region and conduct a long-term test.
Chevron tested the well at an initial rate of 700 b/d of oil from Lower Jurassic Lias calcarenite aat 1,350-1,500 m. The structure is a highly faulted thrusted anticline and covers as much as 2.9 sq km. Midrange probabilistic original oil in place is an estimated 1.34 million bbl.
The perforation of the existing hydrocarbon intervals and other potential undepleted zones is to start in the 2010 fourth quarter.
Information from the well will also be used to further appraise the larger Lower Jurassic conventional oil prospect below Ayoluengo oil field. Hontomin test production will be shipped 38 km to Ayoluengo for processing and sales.
