Anadarko finds more gas pay off Mozambique

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. said its Windjammer discovery well off Mozambique cut a further 76 net ft of natural gas pay in a deeper objective.

HOUSTON, Mar. 22 –
Anadarko Petroleum Corp. said its Windjammer discovery well off Mozambique cut a further 76 net ft of natural gas pay in a deeper objective.

The deeper pay brings to 555 ft the total net gas pay in the Windjammer well (OGJ Online, Feb. 18, 2010).

The Anadarko group drilled the well to a total depth of 16,930 ft in 4,800 ft of water 30 miles east of the Mozambique coast.

Anadarko will move the Belford Dolphin drillship 50 miles south-southeast to drill the company’s Collier prospect.

Anadarko is operator with an approximate 43% paying interest in Windjammer.

Co-owners in the well are BPRL Ventures Mozambique BV 11.75%, Cove Energy Mozambique Rovuma Offshore Ltd. 10%, Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area 1 Ltd. 23.5%, Videocon Mozambique Rovuma 1 Ltd. 11.75%. The Mozambique state company Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos ep has a 15% interest and is being carried through the exploration phase.
