Maurel & Prom, Paris, took a farmout from Artumas Group Inc. to earn a 24% participating interest in the Rovuma Onshore Block in Mozambique.

HOUSTON, Sept. 18
– Maurel & Prom, Paris, took a farmout from Artumas Group Inc. to earn a 24% participating interest in the Rovuma Onshore Block in Mozambique.

Maurel & Prom and Cove Energy PLC will carry Artumas for the first exploration well to be drilled on the block by the end of 2009.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. operates the Rovuma Onshore Block. Anadarko also operates Rovuma Offshore Area 1, where it plans to spud the Windjammer exploration well in late 2009. M&P declined to participate in the offshore block.
