Europa Oil & Gas Ltd., London, drilled Horodok 9 well in Horodok field to 702 m TD. This is Europa's first well in the western Ukraine. The Upper Dashava at 580-588 m flowed "commercial" rates of dry gas, said Europa. Four suspended wells will supply gas to a gathering facility under construction. First production of 3 MMcfd is expected in April. Europa is operator. Its partner in this and other Ukrainian projects is Zahidukrgeologia.

Santos Ltd. tested Coonaberry-1 well at 206.7 cu m/day of gas through a 13-mm choke from the Permian Toolachee at 2,722-30 m. Coonaberry is in the South West Queensland Unit in the Cooper-Eromanga basins in Australia. The tested interval was from 2,722-2,730 m. Partners in the unit are operator Santos, Delhi Petroleum Pty. Ltd., Origin Energy Ltd., Boral Ltd. unit Oil Co. of Australia, and Niugini Energy Inc.

Vintage Petroleum Inc. has tested the Harmel-1 well on Block S-1 in Yemen. Three zones yielded combined production of 180-470 b/d of oil, using a variable speed hydraulic pump. The Harmel-1 initially swab tested 500 b/d of 20-gravity crude over a 5-day period from the same three zones (OGJ Online, Oct. 16, 2000). Fordus-1 on the same block was plugged and abandoned. Vintage operates and has 75% interest in the S-1 Damis Block.
