Rentech, Pertamina to study Indonesian GTL plant
Rentech Inc., Denver, Colo., will partner with the Indonesian state oil company Pertamina to study the possible use of its proprietary Fischer-Tropsch gas-to-liquids process to convert Pertamina's stranded natural gas reserves into products.
A joint study will evaluate the cost, feasibility, and potential market for a small-scale gas-to-liquids plant in Indonesia that would produce 5,000-15,000 b/d of products.
The study will take 4-6 months.
If the proposed project is viable, Pertamina and Rentech will enter discussions for a licensing agreement.
Rentech is discussing use of its technology with many companies, including Texaco Inc. and Forest Oil Co. (OGJ Online, Aug. 25, 2000).
