Ecopetrol appoints Echeverry as chief executive officer

Ecopetrol SA reported it has appointed Juan Carlos Echeverry as its chief executive officer, effective Apr. 6.

Ecopetrol SA reported it has appointed Juan Carlos Echeverry as its chief executive officer, effective Apr. 6.

Echeverry, who has served as Colombia’s Minister of Finance from 2010-12, succeeds Javier Gutierrez. He also served as dean of the faculty of Economy at Universidad de los Andes and as head of the National Planning Department.

He also has been a consultant and commentator in economics and has advised several governments and companies. Until a few months ago, he was executive director for Colombia and Ecuador at the Inter-American Development Bank.
