ARBUCKLE LIME PLAY EXPANDS IN OKLAHOMA'S RINGWOOD AREA
A Cambro-Ordovician Arbuckle lime oil and gas discovery in the area where Oklahoma's sprawling Ringwood District and Sooner Trend meet is becoming a spirited exploration play.
Three offsets have been staked to the discovery itself, and more drilling is planned several miles to the east and southeast.
DLB Oil & Gas Co., Oklahoma City, kicked off the activity last summer with completion of 27-4 Cecil, in 27-21n-10w, Major County, 4 miles northwest of Ames.
The deeper pool discovery flowed 3.285 MMcfd of gas and 170 b/d of oil through a 20/64 in. choke with 1,610 psi flowing tubing pressure from 8,928-70 ft and 8,998-9,032 ft. Total depth is 9,200 ft.
Pennsylvanian Oswego and Manning and Mississippi and Silurian Hunton produce in the area, Petroleum Information noted.
The well produced a combined 35.174 MMcf of gas and 7,398 bbl of oil during June and July 1991, Pi reported.
Continental Resources Inc., Enid, has applied for spacing through Arbuckle in 31-21n-9w, about 3 miles southeast of the zone discovery.
Meanwhile, Arbuckle exploration is also planned in an area 4 miles east of the zone discovery. D&J Oil Co., Enid, staked two wells to Arbuckle at 9,500 ft.
The locations are 1 Peggy, in 18-21n-9w, and 1 Herman, in 20-21n-9w.
Pi notes that the area around D&J's locations has produced since the late 1960s from numerous Pennsylvanian, Mississippian, and Silurian zones at 6,500-8,100
