National Fuel Gas Supply Corp. plans to accept a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission order approving the final phase of the Niagara Import Point Project.
Under the order, National Fuel will transport an added 161.5 MMcfd of Canadian gas exported to the U.S.
The gas will go to Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Co. 125 MMcfd, an Indeck cogenerating plant at Oswego, N.Y. 12 MMcfd, the Indeck cogeneration plant at Tonawanda, N.Y. 12 MMcfd, and National Fuel system supply 12.5 MMcfd.
To provide that service, National Fuel won approval to build an 8,600 hp, $12.3 million compressor station at Concord, N.Y.
In addition, National Fuel will own 46% of the facilities approved for construction by Tennessee Gas Transmission Corp. Tennessee will lay the remaining 17.8 miles of the full 49.2 miles of loop on its Niagara Spur and add 7,000 hp to its compressor station at Lockport, N.Y.
Construction is to begin this fall, aiming for completion in summer 1991.
Total cost of the jointly owned facilities is estimated at $65.4 million. National Fuel's share will be $30.1 million dollars.
Completion of this phase will boost National Fuel's new Canadian gas transportation capacity to 326.5 MMcfd.
