NORTHERN BORDER CUTS PLAN FOR EXPANSION

Northern Border Pipeline Co. plans to move ahead with a smaller version of an expansion/extension project that has been under federal regulatory review since 1987. The company plans to file the scaled down project with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission May 31 under FERC's expedited certificate procedure.
