BW Energy assumes operatorship of Santos basin clusters
BW Energy has become operator of Golfinho and Camarupim clusters in post-salt Espírito Santo basin offshore Brazil.
In March, the company outlined plans to obtain 100% working interest in the clusters from Petrobras and take over the Cidade de Vitoria floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (FPSO) from Saipem SPA (OGJ Online, Mar. 17, 2023).
The Golfinho cluster lies in 1,300-2,200 m of water. The Camarupim cluster is adjacent and in 100-1,050 m of water. It includes Camarupim and Camarupim Norte non-producing gas fields.
BW Energy also obtained 65% interest in the BM-ES-23 exploration block adjacent to the clusters. It holds the Brigadeiro gas and condensate discovery.
The assets include 10,000 b/d oil production, several proven low risk in-field development opportunities with short lead times, and potential long-term upside from proven gas accumulations, the operator said. Infill drilling opportunities have already been identified, it continued.
The resources will be brought to shore and sold in the established Brazilian gas market via a gas export line that BW Energy will acquire and control as part of the transaction.
The closing of the transaction follows a period of stable oil production after restart of the Cidade de Vitória FPSO following repairs and upgrades.
