JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration's 40% owned subsidiary, Nippon Oil Exploration (Myanmar) Ltd., a consolidated subsidiary of ENEOS Holdings, will withdraw from the Yetagun project offshore Myanmar.

JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corp.’s 40% owned subsidiary, Nippon Oil Exploration (Myanmar) Ltd., a consolidated subsidiary of ENEOS Holdings Inc., will withdraw from the Yetagun project offshore Myanmar citing concern over the situation in the country following the 2021 coup and evaluation of project economics.

Nippon holds 19.31784% interest in the project, which comprises Blocks M12, M13, and M14. Petronas Carigali is operator.

ENEOS Holdings Inc. said the withdrawal process began Apr. 29 and will be effective after approval from the Myanmar government and expects the impact on its consolidated financial results to be minimal.

The exit comes following decisions by Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd.(Petronas) and PTT Exploration and Production Public Co. Ltd. (PTTEP) to withdraw from the blocks and from the Taninthayi Pipeline Co. LLC (OGJ Online, May 2, 2022).
