Trace Midstream combine to expand presence in East Texas

Jan. 31, 2020

Trace Midstream and Gemini Midstream, each a portfolio company of Quantum Energy Partners, will combine and operate as Trace Midstream, expanding commercial presence in East Texas, the companies said Jan. 31. Josh Weber will become chief executive officer and John O’Shea becomes chairman of the board.

Gemini’s Haynesville natural gas assets will be operated and managed by Trace Midstream while the company continues expansion plans of the Gemini Carthage Pipeline (GCP).

GCP is an existing 50-mile natural gas system in Harrison and Panola Counties, Tex., capable of delivering over 1.2 bcf/d of high pressure, dry natural gas into the Carthage area.

“Since its initial in-service date of May 2019, GCP has seen a significant ramp in volumes from its two anchor producers, Rockcliff Energy and Tanos Exploration,” said Weber.

Additionally, Trace has begun construction of the Gemini Gulf Coast Pipeline (GGCP), a new 36-in., 150-mile natural gas pipeline capable of delivering 1.5 bcf/d of natural gas to downstream markets in the Beaumont, Tex., area. Phase I is expected to be operational in May.

The combine will remain headquartered in Houston. East Texas assets will continue to be operated from the field office in Marshall, Texas.
