Qatar Petroleum has agreed to acquire interests totaling 25% in three deepwater exploration blocks offshore Kenya from operator Eni SPA and Total SA.
The blocks, L11A, L11B, and L12 cover a total of 15,000 sq km in 1,000-2,700 m of water.
QP will acquire 13.75% from Eni and 11.25% from Total.
Interests after the deal, which is subject to approval by Kenyan authorities, will be Eni, 41.25%; Total, 33.75%; and Qatar Petroleum, 25%.
