Blount appointed Colonial Pipeline president, CEO

Sept. 29, 2017
Joseph A. Blount Jr. has been named president and chief executive officer of Colonial Pipeline Co. He succeeds John Somerhalder II, who served as interim president and CEO for Colonial upon the retirement of Tim Felt earlier this year.

Blount has 35 years of experience in oil, gas, and midstream assets including pipelines. He most recently served as CEO of Century Midstream LLC, a Houston-based company he co-founded in 2013 to develop, buy, and operate midstream assets.

He spent 10 years with Unocal Corp., ultimately serving as president and chief operating officer of Unocal Midstream and Trade where he oversaw the worldwide marketing of Unocal’s gas, oil, and condensate resources; the development of and management of its pipeline, terminal, and storage businesses; and its commodity risk management activities.

During his tenure at Unocal, he served as a member of Colonial’s board representing Unocal’s ownership position. He also has been chairman of the Natural Gas Supply Association and the Natural Gas Council.
