TransCanada president, CEO elected; Kvisle to retire

TransCanada Corp. has elected Russ Girling as the company’s president and chief executive officer effective July 1.

-- TransCanada Corp. has elected Russ Girling as the company’s president and chief executive officer effective July 1. He currently serves as chief operating officer. Girling will succeed Hal Kvisle, who will retire on June 30.

Girling joined TransCanada in 1994. Prior to his appointment as chief operating officer in July 2009, he held a number of leadership positions including president, pipelines; chief financial officer and executive vice-president, corporate development; and executive vice-president, power.
