Robert J. Banks has been tabbed as interim chief executive officer of Houston-based Swift Energy Co., which emerged from Chapter 11 restructuring on Apr. 22.

He succeeds Terry E. Swift, who retired from the position on Oct. 7 (OGJ Online, Aug. 10, 2016). A search has commenced for a permanent chief executive officer.

Banks will continue to serve as executive vice-president and chief operating officer, a title he has held since 2008. He previously worked as the firm’s vice-president for international operations and strategic ventures. He joined Swift Energy in 2004 as vice-president of international operations of wholly owned subsidiary Swift Energy International LLC.

Banks has 40 years of oil and gas industry experience. He has held senior-level positions at Santa Fe International Corp., Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Co., Mosbacher Energy Co., and, before joining Swift, Vanco Energy Co., where he was executive vice-president of operations.

Swift Energy last month named Marcus C. Rowland as chairman (OGJ Online, Sept. 29, 2016).
