Shearwater Elgin Area Line (SEAL pipeline) partners let a long-term, multi-year contract to px Group to manage commercial operations of the Shell-owned North Sea pipeline, the service provider said in a release Oct. 18.
The contract was awarded to Energy24, a px Group business, by TotalEnergies E&P UK Ltd., the service provider said. px Group began taking on operations Aug. 1, 2022. Details on the contract's value and duration were not provided.
The 474 km, 34-in. OD shallow water pipeline has been operational for more than 20 years. It transports natural gas from the Elgin Franklin platform in the Central Graben area of the North Sea to the dedicated SEAL module at the Shell-operated Bacton gas terminal on the Norfolk coast, UK.
px Group is now responsible for commercial operations, pipeline monitoring, shipper services, hydrocarbon allocation/accounting, and continuous improvement, it said. With the contract, px Group manages commercial operations of about 40% of the UK gas supply, it said.
The SEAL project is owned by Shell, TotalEnergies, and Harbour Energy.
