The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (NPD) received applications from 33 oil companies in the 2020 licensing round awards in predefined areas (APA). Most companies active on the Norwegian shelf submitted applications. The deadline was Sept. 22.

The predefined area was expanded in the Norwegian Sea during the preparation for this year's licensing round, and the Ministry has received interest both in newly included areas and in previously announced APA-areas.

Offers of ownership interests are expected to be announced early in 2021.
