TotalEnergies awards contract for Absheron gas field

TotalEnergies has contracted Vallourec to supply over 16,000 tons of tubular products, including OCTG and line pipes, for the Absheron gas field in Azerbaijan.

TotalEnergies SE has let a tubular solutions contract to Vallourec for Absheron gas field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, about 100 km southeast of Baku in about 500 m of water.

The contract covers both oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and line pipe solutions, representing more than 16,000 tons of tubular products in total, the service provider said on Oct. 12.

For the OCTG scope, Vallourec will supply premium pipes equipped with premium connections, including the latest generation semi-flush premium connection. The package also includes a dope-free solution, which enhances operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact.

The line pipe scope comprises about 159 km of line pipe delivered with an anticorrosion coating for both onshore and offshore applications.

Absheron field is being developed to produce up to 6 billion cu m/year of gas and 47,000 b/d of condensate. Startup is expected in 2029.

Gas will be supplied to the domestic market and exported to Türkiye through the existing gas infrastructure connecting Azerbaijan to the European gas market.

TotalEnergies is operator of the project with 35% interest. Partners are State Oil Co. of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR, 35%) and XRG Group, a unit of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC; 30%).
