Eni awarded exploration block in The Gambia

The company said its entry into The Gambia is part of a strategy to build a geographically diversified portfolio, including opportunities in proven but still underexplored areas as well as emerging and frontier areas with high potential.

Eni and the Government of The Gambia signed a Petroleum Exploration Development and Production License Agreement for Block A1 offshore the Republic of The Gambia.

The block covers an area of 1,300 sq km in 1,250-3,300 m of water. The block is in a region of the Atlantic margin with proven hydrocarbon discoveries.
