bp entered into a production sharing agreement (PSA) for six blocks in the North Ustyurt region of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The company has acquired 40% participating interest in the PSA which includes Boyterak, Terengquduq, Birqori, Kharoy, Qoraqalpoq, and Qulboy blocks. SOCAR is operator of the blocks (30%) with partner Uzbekneftegaz holding the remaining 30%.

The project is currently in its first phase with SOCAR undertaking seismic activities.
