Petronas declares Suriname Sloanea field commercial, advances toward development
Petronas Suriname E&P BV (PSEPBV) made a Declaration of Commerciality (DoC) for Sloanea field in Block 52, Suriname, affirming the field’s economic feasibility towards development and commercialisation, the company said in a release Nov. 14.
The Sloanea-1 well in 2020 encountered several hydrocarbon-bearing sandstone packages with good reservoir qualities in the Campanian section, and the well data proved excellent calibration of the hydrocarbon potential of the block.
Petronas holds interests in eight offshore blocks in Suriname — Blocks 9, 10, 48, 52, 53, 63, 64, and 66
PETRONAS is operator of Block 52 (80%) with Staatsolie subsidiary Paradise Oil Co. (POC) holding the remaining 20%. ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Suriname BV withdrew from Block 52 in November 2024, transferring its interest to Petronas.
