Eni plans pipeline tie-in for gas discovery offshore Egypt

The operator discovered gas at the Naseem-1X well in the Mediterranean Sea, with initial estimates indicating about 200 bcf in the reservoir.

Eni and partners discovered natural gas with the Naseem-1X exploratory well on the Tiba block in the Temsah concession offshore Egypt in the Mediterranean Sea, according to Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

Initial estimates indicate the reservoir contains about 200 bcf of gas. The well encountered a 15-m net gas-bearing interval with favorable petrophysical properties at true vertical depth, the ministry said.

The partners are advancing technical and reservoir studies to further evaluate the discovery, estimate recoverable reserves, and assess production potential.

Plans call for tying the well into existing infrastructure through a 22-km pipeline connection to the Abu Madi-Al Jamil gas pipeline to accelerate production.

Eni SPA operates the concession with partner Woodside. The well was drilled by Belayim Petroleum Co. (Petrobel), the joint venture of Egyptian General Petroleum Corp. (EGPC) and Eni, on behalf of the partners.
