Eni makes gas, condensate discovery offshore Egypt
Key Highlights
- Eni made a gas and condensate discovery in Egypt’s offshore Temsah Concession.
- The Denise W 1 exploration well contains a gas-bearing sandstone reservoir of excellent quality.
Eni SPA made a gas and condensate discovery in Egypt’s Temsah Concession 70 km offshore in the Eastern Mediterranean in 95 m of water.
Preliminary estimates indicate about 2 tcf of gas initially in place and 130,000 bbl of associated condensates. A fast-track development is possible as the well is less than 10 km from existing infrastructure, the company said in a release Apr. 7.
The Denise W 1 exploration well was successfully drilled and, like the nearby Temsah field, it contains a gas-bearing sandstone reservoir of excellent quality with about 50 m of net pay, Eni said.
Drilling of Denise W-1 follows the binding agreement signed in July 2025 with Egyptian General Petroleum Corp. (EGPC) and Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co. (EGAS) for a 20-year renewal of the Temsah Concession.
Eni is operator of the Denise Development Lease of the Temsah Concession (50%) with bp plc (50%). The asset is operated through Petrobel, the joint venture operating company between Eni and EGPC.
