Petrobras identifies another offshore Amapá interval
Petrobras confirmed a third discovery on block FZA-M-59 in the Equatorial Margin offshore Brazil after identifying an additional oil-bearing interval in the Morpho well in 2,886 m of water.
The discovery resulted from continued evaluation of other intervals of interest following discoveries announced in August and early October 2026.
Drilling and geological data acquisition have been completed. Well abandonment will now be carried out and the rig will sail to Potiguar basin off the coast of Rio Grande do Norte, where drilling will start at Mãe de Ouro.
The Equatorial Margin is north of the country, close to the states of Amapá and Rio Grande do Norte, and is the newest Brazilian exploratory frontier in deep and ultradeep waters.
Petrobras is operator of FZA-M-59 and holds a 100% stake in the area.
