Petrobras discovered oil in Aram block in the Santos basin presalt, 248 km from the city of Santos, State of São Paulo, in 1,952 m of water.
Electrical logs, gas shows, and fluid sampling from exploratory well 3-BRSA-1396D-SPS confirmed an oil-bearing interval. The oil was high-quality with no contaminants.
The Aram consortium will begin laboratory analyses to characterize the conditions of the reservoirs and fluids found, which will allow the evaluation of the area's potential.
Two more wells will be drilled, and a drill stem test will be conducted as part of the appraisal plan, which has a deadline in 2027 and in which additional data acquisition activities may be carried out according to planning and contractual obligations established with the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
Petrobras is operator of the block with 80% interest. China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) holds the remaining 20%.
