TMK Energy Ltd. received a 2C contingent gas resource estimate of 1.2 tcf for the Nariin Sukhait area of the Gurvantes XXXV exploration permit in the Gobi basin of southern Mongolia.

The estimate for the major coal seam gas project, certified by Netherland, Sewell & Associates Inc., follows completion of the $1.5 million Stage 1 exploration program and includes data from a recent core hole drilling undertaken by TMK and funded by Talon Energy Ltd. as part of its farm-in obligations to earn a 33% interest.

Unrisked contingent resources include a 1C contingent resource estimate of 398 bcf and a 3C contingent resource of 1.944 tcf.

The figures represent the largest independently certified contingent gas resource for any Australian Security Exchange-listed company operating in Mongolia, Talon said.

The resource is contained in upper and lower coal seam packages at depths of 150-750 m and 750-1,000 m, respectively.

Gurvantes XXXV Stage 2 exploration is planned for 2023. The Gurvantes project lies close to major gas pipeline infrastructure that services Chinese markets.
