Equinor Energy AS has let an integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (iEPCI) contract to TechnipFMC for the operator’s Smorbukk Nord development at Haltenbanken in the Norwegian Sea.

The 2013 Smorbukk Nord gas-condensate discovery is envisioned as a possible tieback to Åsgard field (OGJ Online, Aug. 30, 2013).

The contract covers a high-pressure, high-temperature subsea production system and associated equipment for a brownfield tieback. The award follows front end engineering and design work on the project in 2021.

The installation campaign will use TechnipFMC’s battery hybrid vessel, which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions through reduced fuel consumption, the service provider said.
