Equinor lets subsea construction, installation contract for Snorre field
Equinor has let a subsea construction and installation contract to DeepOcean for the Snorre Export and Import Gas Project (SNEIG) in the North Sea.
DeepOcean’s scope of work includes installation of a subsea safety isolation valve (SSIV), a subsea umbilical, and tie-in to the existing pipeline using connectors and associated tooling from the pipeline repair and subsea intervention (PRSI) pool, the company said in a release Nov. 13.
The company also will provide preparatory subsea construction activities including isolation pig tracking, pipeline coating removal, and cutting operations. Suitable crossings for the new umbilical will also be prepared and installed in the field before various mechanical completion and commissioning activities are performed, the release noted.
Offshore operations are expected in the summer season of 2026 using a subsea construction vessel from DeepOcean’s chartered fleet, the company said.
SNEIG project
The SNEIG project aims to extend the production life of Snorre oil and gas field, originally discovered in 1979 and operational since 1992, beyond 2040. The field spans blocks 34/4 and 34/7 in the Tampen area of the Norwegian North Sea in 300–350 m of water. Existing infrastructure includes Snorre A and Snorre B platforms and an extensive underwater production system.
