TotalEnergies to launch Orange basin exploration, appraisal campaign

The campaign to further derisk the Mopane discovery will include 3 wells over the next 2 years with a first well planned in 2026.

TotalEnergies will start an oil and gas exploration and appraisal campaign aimed at further derisking oil and gas resources and progressing toward development of the Mopane discovery offshore Namibia.

The campaign will include 3 wells over the next 2 years with a first well planned in 2026.

The planned campaign comes follwoing TotalEnergies' signed agreement with Galp Energia SGPS SA to acquire 40% operated interest in PEL 83. Upon closing, partners in the license will include Galp (40%), Namcor (10%), and Custos (10%).

PEL 83 covers about 10,000-sq km in Orange basin in the southern part of Namibian shallow and deep waters, close to the border with South Africa.

In addition to PEL 83, TotalEnergies will also acquire a 35.25% operated interest in PEL 56 with partners QatarEnergy (35.25%), Galp (10%), Namcor (10%), and Impact (9.5%), and a 33.085% operated interest in PEL 91 with partners QatarEnergy (33.025%), Namcor (15%), Galp (9.39%), and Impact (9.5%).
