HOUSTON, Aug. 31 – Eni let a multimillion dollar contract to Halliburton to provide integrated energy services toward redeveloping giant Zubair oil field near Basra in southern Iraq.
Work has begun, said Halliburton, which will conduct operations such as wireline logging, perforating, acidizing and well testing on 20 wells.
Eni, Occidental Petroleum Corp., Korea Gas Corp., and state-owned South Oil Co. and Missan Oil Co. plan to increase Zubair production from 200,000 b/d at the end of 2009 to 1.2 million b/d within 6 years and to keep output at that level for 7 years (OGJ Online, Jan. 27, 2010).
