Equinor Energy AS has been granted consent by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to drill an exploration well in the Norwegian Sea.

Equinor Energy AS has been granted consent by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to drill an exploration well in the Norwegian Sea.

The main purpose of exploration well 6507/3-14 is to detect hydrocarbons in reservoir rocks from the Early Cretaceous Age (Lange formations) in the Black Vulture prospect in production license 159 B. The well will be drilled by the West Hercules semisubmersible drilling rig in 368 m of water. Drilling is expected to begin in May and take 34 days.

Equinor is operator of the license with 53%. Partners are DNO Norge AS (32%) and Ineos E&P Norge AS (15%).
