Aker BP ASA has started oil production from Symra field about 7 km northeast of the Ivar Aasen platform in the Utsira High area of the North Sea.
The field, across licenses PL167/167B/167C, is expected to produce 20,000-25,000 boe/d at plateau and contribute about 63 MMboe to the Eiga area. It is the sixth Aker BP-operated project sanctioned in 2022 to come on stream, and the second tieback to Ivar Aasen behind Hanz.
Symra field has been developed as 4-well subsea tieback to the Ivar Aasen platform where production will be partially processed before final processing at the Edvard Grieg platform.
TechnipFMC delivered the subsea systems, Moreld Apply carried out modifications on the Edvard Grieg platform, and Aibel performed the modifications on the Ivar Aasen platform. Drilling operations were by Odfjell Drilling and Halliburton through Aker BP’s drilling and wells alliance.
Aker BP is operator of Symra (50%) with partners Equinor (30%) and DNO Norge (20%).
