CNOOC Ltd. has started production from the Dongfang 1-1 gas field 13-3 block development project.

The project is the first high-temperature, high-pressure, low-permeability natural gas project offshore China, the company said in a July 29 release. The project lies in the Yinggehai basin, with an average water depth of about 67 m.

The main production infrastructure is a new unmanned wellhead platform utilizing the existing processing infrastructure of the Dongfang gas fields.

CNOOC said it expects a total of six development wells. A peak production of about 35 MMcfd of natural gas is expected in 2026.

CNOOC, which is operator of the project with 100% interest, said the existing infrastructure is used to connect Dongfang 1-1 gas field and Dongfang 13-2 gas field, marking the establishment of an integrated offshore gas production network in Yinggehai basin.
