Carnarvon Energy Ltd. will identify an exploration target in Bedout sub-basin, offshore Western Australia, after completing the Bedout Mega Merge seismic reprocessing project.
The project integrates ten seismic surveys, covering 15,240 sq km and providing more than 80% seamless coverage of Bedout acreage. The enhanced seismic dataset features improved resolution, reduced noise, and greater clarity. These improvements identified previously undetected structural features and stratigraphic trends.
Phase II of the project, now underway, will apply quantitative interpretation and seismic inversion techniques to refine further subsurface predictions, particularly regarding rock lithology for reservoir and seal characterization.
Insights gained from this dataset will directly inform selection of the 2026 exploration target and guide future Bedout exploration strategy. The dataset also provides enhancement to the definition of the Bedout prospective resource base and associated geological risk profile.
The Bedout JV is preparing the multi-well drilling environmental plan submission required for upcoming and future exploration activities, with drilling planned to commence third-quarter 2026.
