Aker BP drilled a dry well on the Rondeslottet prospect in production license (PL) 1005 in the Norwegian Sea about 80 km north of Ormen Lange field and 175 km northwest of Kristiansund.
Wildcat well 6405/7-4 was drilled in 1,104 m of water by the Scarabeo 8 drilling rig in Møre basin to a vertical depth of 2,897 m subsea. It was terminated in the Kvitnos formation in the Upper Cretaceous. The primary exploration target for the well was to prove oil in Upper Cretaceous reservoir rocks in the Nise formation.
The well encountered the Nise formation with a total thickness of 204 m of which 11 m contained sandstone layers with poor reservoir quality. The well is classified as dry and has been plugged.
