Aker BP spuds Central North Sea exploration
Aker BP ASA has spudded an exploration well in production license (PL) 867/B on the Gudrun Terrace in the Central North Sea, said Lime Petroleum AS in a Jan. 11 release.
The well is targeting the Gjegnalunden prospect in the Hugin reservoir. Drilling will be conducted in water depths of 116 m using Saipem’s Scarabeo 8 semi-submersible rig and is expected to take 27 days.
“A discovery on Gjegnalunden can readily be developed and tied to nearby fields. It will also support prospectivity in the neighboring license PL818 Orkja," said Lars Hübert, chief executive officer, Lime Petroleum.
Aker BP is operator at PL 867/B with 80% interest. Lime Petroleum holds 20%.
