Aker BP to move rig to Norwegian Sea following dry well in North Sea

Aker BP ASA, will plug North Sea well 35/4-3 and proceed to drill wildcat well 6507/2-6 in production license 261 in the Norwegian Sea. Well 35/4-3, in production license 685, was dry, according to a May 12 release from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.

The well was drilled about 20 km southeast of Knarr field, and 100 km west of Florø to a vertical depth of 4,674 m subsea by the Deepsea Nordkapp drilling rig. It was terminated in the targeted Cook formation from the Early Jurassic. Water depth at the site is 399 m.

The well encountered the Cook formation, around 93 m thick, of which 67 m was sandstone with moderate to good reservoir quality. Data acquisition has been carried out.

Well 35/403 was the first exploration well in the license.

Aker BP is operator in license 261 with 40% interest. Partners are Wellesley Petroleum AS 40% and Petoro AS 20%.
