PGNiG Upstream Norway AS on Sept. 29 began drilling the Fat Canyon prospect in the Norwegian Sea.

The well, targeting the Jurassic reservoir, was spudded by Dolphin Drilling’s Borgland Dolphin semisubmersible rig about 15 km south of Neptune Energy-operated 6406/12-4 S (Boomerang) on Fenja field (OGJ Online, Mar. 24, 2021), said Rex International Holding Ltd., majority holder in license partner Lime Petroleum AS. Water depth at the site is 241 m. The well is expected to take at least 40 days to complete.

The asset is part of PGNiG's acquisition of INEOS Energy’s oil and gas interests in production, licenses, fields, facilities, and pipelines on the Norwegian Continental Shelf which closed on Sept. 30 (OGJ Online, Sept. 27, 2021).
