Shoal Point Energy Ltd. and its partners will evaluate information from their second well at the Mount Evans project in Kansas at a total depth of 4,360 ft. after the well came up dry.
The partners will decide what next steps, if any, will be undertaken, the company said in a Mar. 15 release.
The first well—Maresch Unit #1-18—drilled late 2020, also did not perform as expected, the company noted in December.
Shoal Point has a 65% working interest in a 121-sq mi area of mutual interest with privately held Shelby Resources (35%).
Mount Evans’ primary target is the Pawnee Sandstone, which has produced an average of more than 170,000 bbl of oil from each of 9 wells in the immediate vicinity from a depth of about 4,000 ft.
