ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS has plugged well 25/7-9 S, which was targeting petroleum in Eocene reservoir rocks (the Hordaland Group) in production license 917 in the central part of the North Sea (OGJ Online, Dec. 9, 2019). The target was dry.
The exploration well, the second in the license, was drilled to a vertical depth of 1,899 m and 1,955 m measured depth subsea with Transocean’s Leiv Eiriksson semisubmersible drilling facility 7 km northwest of Balder field and 200 km west of Stavanger in 126 m of water. It was terminated in the Sele formation. Data has been collected.
The well encountered two thin sandstone layers of about 1 m in the Hordaland Group, with very good reservoir properties and traces of petroleum.
ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS is operator with 40%. Partners are Lundin Norway AS, Suncor Energy Norge AS, and Var Energi AS, each with 20%.
